Our winter hike will be conducted Sunday 3 March at 12:00 sharp at the Stoney Swamp Trail. This is located on Moodie Drive about .4 km west of the intersection of West Hunt Club Dr and Moodie (i.e. turn right onto Moodie from West Hunt Club going away from Kanata). We will meet in the parking lot (P8).
Parents are responsible to bring Cubs to the hike and pick them up there (again at the parking lot) afterwards. The event will be about 1½ to 2 hours long.
Parents and siblings are welcome to join us on the hike!
We will be looking at animals and birds in winter (if we don't scare them all off), tips for dressing in winter, and bird feeder designs (bring a bit of bird seed if you want).
Dress for the weather. In the woods, after this mild winter, the trail may be very wet so boots that will go through puddles are advised. Dress in layers. Cubs will get warm during the walk but will cool off afterwards and may want to put on an extra sweater when they get back to the parking lot.
We will have lunch out doors at the end of the hike. We will provide hot dogs, juice and hot chocolate.
Please call Baloo (Mark Tunnicliffe @ 599-8941) by Friday (1 March) if you are planning to come together with the number of hikers so we will know how much food to buy.
Please print and complete a Permission Form and bring it with you on Sunday.
