B Pack Weasel and Cub Mascot
Third Kanata B Pack Banner

7 May, 2003

This Week: We held our Spring Hike.  Cubs saw a number of porcupine, deer and geese and identified a few bird calls. They also saw the impact of a fire on the local environment and how nature rebounds from it.

Next Week: is a regular meeting preparing for Camporee.  The pack has to prepare a song, skit and cheer and our theme for Camporee.  It's also the last badge testing night of the year.

Camporee: Camporee registration is closed.  The $40/person fee includes our payment for the Camporee services and T-shirts and for our food costs.  We have had to pay out of section funds the total Camporee costs.  So, for those who have not already done so, please get your Camporee payment in to Trevor Weeden (271-2607, 63 Mattawa Cr) as soon as possible (we are still missing some).  We will need all paperwork in by next week as well.  This includes the permission slips on the website and fitness forms for adults attending (and updated ones for your cubs if there have been any changes.  Note: We do not retain adult fitness forms from previous events.) Our Pack's theme will be western prospectors so, as advance warning we will be asking attendees to be able to dress up as prospectors with a floppy hat jeans with suspenders and a bandanna when they go.

Badge Work: Cubs completed one hike from Hiking Badge #6, half of the birds from Black Star #B2., Naturalist #8 (porcupine), Observer #1 (Porcupine, deer, squirrel), Observer #2 (geese, robin).  Next week is badge testing - the last one of the year!

Note: Pre-registration will be held May 21 and 27 in the lobby of the Bridlewood Church of the Nazarene from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - after the long weekend and around Camporee.  This is to give current members an early chance to sign up to return before we accept new members next year.  At registration and pre-registration we will be asking for people to step forward for volunteer positions.

Yours in Scouting,
Mark Tunnicliffe (599-8941)
