12 February, 2002
Next Week we will hold our
regular meeting at St Anne's School (at the top of Grassy
Plains Dr). Enter the gym by the side entrance. This is a
combined 3rd Kanata Cubs meeting for our final Kub Kar rally
with prizes and trophies for the top cars in the group.
Again, thanks to all parents who have helped us with the Kar
building and who came out last night with our Pack rally.
Please pass me your names and the nights you came out so we
can add the information to our Volunteer Bond sheet.
Winter Camp is this weekend.
See our web site for final details.
A Reminder that rink duty is the
week of 17 Feb. You will be contacted by phone for specific
details of the nights we are going out for flooding and
scraping.
- Group Committee minutes from
last month are posted on the web site. The main items from
last night's meeting are as follows:
-
- On Thursday February 21, all leaders and youth
should wear our uniforms to work and school for
Scout/Guide week.
-
Scouts Canada is recommending that administrative
functions in our Sections could be run by parent
volunteers and leave the program delivery for the
leaders. This means parents would do things like:
- organize and co-ordinate section fundraising
(yard waste bags, ice rink maintenance, Apple Day,
Scoutrees etc.)
- organize and co-ordinate transportation/car
pooling for outings
- collect/organize money and paperwork for
outings
- sew neckerchiefs for youth and leaders
- help organize and manage section funds
(treasurer)
- We will be selling yard waste bags at Hazeldean
Mall again on April 5&6 and April 12&13.
Parent and youth volunteers are required for shift work
and co-ordination.
- We would like to arrange for a joint swim-up and
leap-up with all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts together
after planting Scoutrees this year.
- We are looking into the possibility of having a
sleepover for 3rd Kanata Cubs in Fort Henry in Kingston
sometime in June to relive the 1860's. Details to
follow.
Yours in Scouting
