Over the Past several meetings we have worked on Heritage and Canada and the world by learning about maps, nations and flags. In a future meeting in the new year Cubs will be asked to tell a story about their ancestors history and heritage or something about their ancestors culture. We also worked on the safety aspects of the Health and Fitness portion of the programme by visiting the local regional OPP station.
Play: Don't forget the play this weekend. If you have not yet picked up the tickets you ordered, contact Baloo (Mark Tunnicliffe) at 599-8941. There are apparently 10 tickets still available that might be obtained on a first come basis from W. Simpson at 613-271-8356.
Next Meeting on 17 December we will be combining Holiday celebrations with the heritage theme by making crafts and talking about Holidays around the world. We are also trying to put together a small pot-luck Holiday party. If each Cub could bring in a small sample of his family's traditional Holiday snacks to share we will be able to demonstrate the more delectable aspects of world heritage (siblings and family welcome for this portion of the meeting!).
Next Year: This is our last meeting for the year. The next meeting will be a regular meeting on 7 January, picking up the Space theme which we had postponed from this session. A full programme theme list will be developed by the leaders over the holidays and posted early in the New Year.
Future Events: At the moment, we have already planned the Pack's Winter Camp at the MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre in Cumberland, Ont. on February 15-17, 2002 (Cubs camp in heated buildings in winter - not tents). More information on this will be posted early in the New Year. The annual Carleton District Winter Cuboree will be held Sunday February 3 at Pinto Valley Ranch.
