16 April, 2003

This Week: We held a regular meeting with a Law Awareness theme.  Cubs discussed who makes laws in Canada, the types of laws and how courts enforce the law.  We also practiced a new Canadian song for Camporee.

Next Week: There is no meeting on Easter Monday.  However we will hold a group Swim Up/Leap up at 06:30 23 April at Ste Anne's School.  Besides the swim up of Beavers to Cubs and the leap Up of Cubs to Scouts, there will be Group games and refreshments.  Maximum turn out is encouraged.

Parent Survey Form: Group is also trying to get feedback from parents on your opinion of the programme to date.  Please note the questionnaire on our website (http://3rd.kanatacubs.com/forms/3Ksurvey.html) and bring it in to me when you can.  We still have received no submissions.  Thanks for the help.

Note: Pre-registration has been booked for May 21 and 27 in the lobby of the Bridlewood Church of the Nazarene - after the long weekend and around Camporee.  The time tentatively set is 6:00 - 8:00pm.  This is to give current members an early chance to sign up to return before we accept new members next year.  At registration and pre-registration we will be asking for people to step forward for these volunteer positions.

These are positions we require to be filled prior to the start of the next Scout year.  You may recall we experienced a delayed start to the program this past year because positions were not filled.  Please do what you can.

You are invited to volunteer your name or nominate someone.  Please contact either
Heather Kirk   271-8140   heather.kirk@sympatico.ca
or myself at Tunnicliffe.MD@forces.ca to nominate someone or if you need more information.

Scoutrees: Canvassing will be held during our regular meeting time 28 April in concert with the Beavers.  We will need parental help with supervision of groups of 2 or 3 Beavers/Cubs.  Planting will be Saturday 3 May at Pinhey's Point with 1,800 trees will be on site by 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.  This is one of the final Volunteer Bond activities left.

Yard Bags: Finally, we will be holding a Yard Bag Sale as well for our final fundraisers for the year.  B Pack will be working the booth at Hazeldean Mall on Saturday April 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  This is also an opportunity for those who wish to complete their Volunteer Bond activity - we will need a minimum of 4 youth and 2 adults during this time.  You can check the posted spreadsheet at our website to see your points to date.

Yours in Scouting,

Mark Tunnicliffe (599-8941)
