B Pack Weasel and Cub Mascot
Third Kanata B Pack Banner

1 May, 2002

This Week we will be working on the Purple Star requirements on community involvement.  We will have a regular meeting to prepare a display poster for scouting to be used as an aid to the group for registration and general community awareness.  We will build a poster showing the kinds of things which Cubs get involved in.  If your Cub has any spare photos or old crafts or other mementos which can be donated to the poster effort please bring them in!

Next Week we will have the Spring hike originally programmed for last month.  We will combine it with some Purple Star activity on community clean up and environmental awareness.  The location and timing will be the same as previously planned.  This information will be repeated in next week's notice.

Scoutrees Planting will be held this Saturday, 4 May.  The general information provided by the District is as follows:
We have been asked to return to the Monahan Drain and infill plant the southern portion of the site.  For those who have not been to the Monahan Drain, it is located south of Emerald Meadows.  While heading south on Eagleson turn onto the Hope Side Road and the entrance is on the north side approximately 500 metres from the corner.  Parking is limited to the sides of the road, and traffic is usually moving quite fast, so exercise care.  You may wish to park somewhere within Emerald Meadows and use the pathway system around the holding ponds to walk to the planting site.  The trees will be on site by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday 4 May.

B Pack will meet on the Hope Side road (across from the little bridge which you can see from the road at 09:00.  If you arrive after that please look for us in the planting area identified above.  Dress for the weather.  Wellington boots, gloves and necker (only) are a good idea.  Bring a gardening shovel and a bucket if you have one.

We did the fundraising portion of the Scoutrees programme last Monday, raising about $600 with the Beavers.  Well done!

Swim Up/Leap Up will be held after Scoutrees at the Church of the Nazarene (corner of Eagleson Road and Stonehaven Drive) at 11:00 a.m. with BBQ hot dogs and snacks to follow at 12:00 noon.  For those with third year Cubs leaping up to Scouts next year - don't miss it and dress in full uniform.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremonies and lunch.  Bring your camera if you want pictures of this event.

Yours in Scouting
