23 April, 2002
Last Night's Hike was postponed due to (at the time of the decision) deteriorating weather. The opportunities for wildlife observation would have been greatly reduced in any case. We will combine the hike with our clean up project scheduled for 13 May (hopefully there will be no snow then!)
Next Week is canvassing for Scoutrees. Cubs will be linking with B Colony Beavers to canvass community support for the Scoutrees planting event which itself will be held Saturday 4 March. This is a Volunteer Bond fundraising event - parental assistance is welcomed. We will meet outside WO Mitchell School at the usual time (6:30 PM) to arrange canvassing teams.
Tonight (23 April) Due to an unusual conjunction of planet (and an even more unusual springtime forecast clear night) we will have an unprogrammed astronomy night TONIGHT. We will have an astronomical telescope available for the Cubs to see all of the classical planets as well as identifying some of the common constellations. We will meet at 8:15 at Meadowbreeze Park (at the intersection of Meadowbreeze and Wheatland Ave in Emerald Meadows and take a short walk to the centre of the park to the telescope (where hopefully the interference from city lights will be less). It will be cold - dress for the weather (uniforms not required). Finish time will be roughly one hour but parents are welcome to stay with us.
Yours in Scouting
