B Pack Weasel and Cub Mascot
Third Kanata B Pack Banner

9 May, 2002

This Week (May 13) The Spring hike originally planned for 22 April will be held this week - combined with some Purple Star community service activity. To recap:

We will be working on parts of the Naturalist and Observer badges. The hike will start on the Jack Pine Trail. We will meet in the parking lot of the trail (lot P9) located on Moodie Drive. Coming up West Hunt Club from Kanata, turn right onto Moodie Drive. P9 is located just over a kilometer down Moodie on the left (past the Stony Swamp Trail we visited in February) and is marked as the lot for the Jack Pine Trail. We will actually be following trail 26 to P10 and back via the road, a distance of about 5km - a fair distance for the Cubs. Give them a light supper before going - we will have drinks and snacks after the hike. (If trail conditions have improved, a shorter route confined to the Jack Pine Trail may be selected. T his will be announced before we start - however start and stop times and places will remain the same.)

Dress them appropriately - the trail is dry at the moment but it could get wet if it rains over the weekend. Cubs will not need their uniforms except for their neckers.

We will meet in the parking lot P9 at 6:15 p.m. Pick up will be at the parking lot at 8:00 p.m.

Parents are welcome to come but the hike is too long for younger siblings.

The hike will include an observation activity and clean up. Cubs should bring a small pencil and a plastic shopping bag for trail clean up (and gloves if you wish).

Next Week we will have the Spring hike originally programmed for last month.  We will combine it with some Purple Star activity on community clean up and environmental awareness.  The location and timing will be the same as previously planned.  This information will be repeated in next week's notice.

Used Clothes As part of the Purple Star community service award, the Pack is collecting used clothes for donation to the Salvation Army. If you have any you wish to dispose of in this way, bring them to the hike site and we will collect them at this time.
